As an Electrical Engineer at McBride, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving production lines and equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely completion of engineering tasks, whether electrical or mechanical, and will work closely with production colleagues to achieve optimal performance.Carry out and record all engineering tasks on the assigned lines/equipment in a timely and safe manner, whether they are electrical or mechanical.Produce and action T-cards for all planned jobs on the assigned lines.Communicate effectively within your shift and across other shifts regarding the technical status of the assigned line/equipment.Ensure lines are left in a fully functioning state for the next shift, conducting an effective shift handover with comprehensive reports. Maintain the end-of-line engineering downtime record sheets.Collaborate with the maintenance planner and stores personnel for the planning and provision of spares and materials for equipment.Liaise with the Engineering Team Manager for workload planning and technical support.Correctly record all downtime in the SAP system. Identify and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) activities with line production colleagues and create T-cards for these.Conduct changeover activities with production colleagues, contributing to Single-Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) programs and other lean activities.Support and guide Senior Operators in performing cleaning schedules.Help identify and adhere to standard settings for all equipment.Provide technical training to production colleagues and engineering apprentices on assigned equipment.Engage in self-training to maintain and enhance your skill and knowledge base, working towards the Electrician Plus skill-set and sharing knowledge with colleagues.Maintain and improve housekeeping standards.Ensure compliance with legal requirements for COMAH, ATEX/DSEAR, and other relevant areas, including performing level control proof-testing procedures.Take responsibility within the Emergency Evacuation Plan by fulfilling the Engineering Investigation Team role, presenting yourself in emergencies, and fully understanding your duties by attending practice sessions and performing weekly fire alarm tests.Have a working knowledge of site fire alarm systems and emergency shutdown and isolation procedures.Comply with Permit To Work systems, Isolation Procedures, and all other Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems.Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, overhaul of spare modules, and planned downtime activities in collaboration with the maintenance team. Use the T-card and Pirana CMMS system to record actions and generate follow-up work orders as needed.Accurately record all parts used for maintenance and repair, booking them out against the line/equipment.Contribute to, and where appropriate, take ownership of improvement/replacement projects.Perform all required production tasks as part of the line crew on the assigned line.Maintain change-parts shadow boards to support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) levels on assigned line/equipment.Engineering skills obtained through a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ Level 3).Multi-skilled with basic electrical competency.Continuous improvement and root cause analysis skills.Literate and numerate (GCSE level English and Maths or equivalent desirable).Familiarity with packaging lines, drives, conveyors, rotating machinery, pumping equipment, and valves.Competence in pneumatically and hydraulically controlled systems.Strong adherence to safe working procedures.Experience in FMCG or equivalent process industry.
