Role overview:Gaia's client is undertaking a large land remediation project near Ennis in Co. Clare, Ireland. Our client's role on the project is to provide environmental and regulatory design oversight and to this effect, we are looking to recruit a Senior Environmental Scientist to join the project team.The project involves the construction of temporary enclosures and the excavation and removal of contaminated soil and waste for thermal remediation off-site at specialist facilities in mainland Europe. There will also be phases of in-situ thermal treatment of soil and groundwater.Responsibilities:Ensure that the contractor's activities comply with all relevant IEL and planning consent conditions.Attend daily, weekly and monthly project and workload review meetings.Monitor construction activities performance to ensure that identified and appropriate control measures are effective and ensure compliance with the approved CEMPConducting/managing fieldwork e.g., site investigations involving sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, air quality, noise, etc.Interpreting fieldwork data i.e., statistical analysis and comparison with relevant guidelines and legislative standards.Ensure that all waste management activities undertaken by the contractor include systems for waste tracking and waste reporting to control the accountability of waste management.Assist in investigating and resolving any incidents.Preparing technical reports for environmental agencies and government bodies.Organizing and managing sub-consultants, sub-contractors and third-party contributors to projects.Contributing to other projects or duties as may be required.Requirements:Relevant Science or Engineering degree.At least 4 years of relevant experience in Environmental Consultancy.Have a good working knowledge and experience in implementing relevant EU and Irish legislation relating to environmental compliance and management of contaminated land.Ambitious and a drive to succeed.Strong organizational skills.Is essential that the candidate is self-motivated as well as being a strong team playerExcellent communication skills, with an ability to engage with people at all levels.Eligible to work in the EU without visa sponsorship.
